Becoming a digital nomad – how and why?

Firstly, for those who are not completely sure what exactly a digital nomad is. People who are working/earning online and who are spending at least a couple of months living abroad. They usually move from one place to another every few weeks or few months. By default, a digital nomad makes enough money so they can live wherever they want in the world. Moving from USA to Europe or somewhere else is completely common. But not every digital nomad can choose where they will live. Instead, they have a limited budget. If you are earning less than 1000 $ or 2000 $ you will have to choose places with a lower cost of living.

The benefits of becoming a digital nomad

One of the many positive sides of being a nomad is that you don’t need to have a large budget, to begin with. There are some excellent places to live with smaller earnings. Places where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and climate and have enough money to live. Search for international moving quotes and head to the tropics. You will meet a lot of new people, and maybe some people in the same situation as you. People who aren’t attached to one place say that it is a special kind of freedom you’ll enjoy. And let’s not forget that you get to travel around the world and see all kinds of different cultures and lifestyles. It is a unique experience.

And then there are disadvantages

When you think about life abroad, the first thing to think about is a beach, sun, and sea. Although there are people who enjoy working from the beach, the reality is a little different.

You need a good WIFI signal, which is not that typical for most beaches. Unless you are moving to Austria from USA. You will be covered. So they sometimes end up in some stuffy rooms catching up on Wi-Fi. Another disadvantage is the distance from your loved ones. Living far away can be lonely, it is not for everyone.

When you are moving a lot, you should expect a lot of paperwork as well.

One more downside of being on the constant move is visas and paperwork. There is no one that can help you with the paperwork. You can hire international household movers if you are moving a lot, they will help with your belongings. But you will surely have to get health insurance, visas, and other documents. It can sometimes be pretty exhausting when you don’t have help.

Finally, you need to make sure you can earn enough money for the life you want to live. Becoming a digital nomad can be a bit hard in the beginning, but once you get accustomed it will be easier.
